Disabled People Are Being Tortured in My State
And have been for years. This is 2002 footage of some of the atrocities that have happened behind the walls of Canton's Judge Rotenberg Center. (CONTENT WARNING!) It's still being allowed. Right now. An FDA ban on the shock devices was overturned on a ridiculous technicality on July 6th of this year. I've been sickened, disgusted, angry, so many emotions this past week as I've tried to get as many eyes on this as possible. This place at 250 Turnpike St, Canton, MA 02021 needs to be shut down. The employees who conduct the abuse and the parents who advocated for it need to be held responsible. The point of these devices is to inflict debilitating pain to 'correct' undesired behaviors and condition the students to expect pain when they don't comply with what's expected of them. The United Nations has condemned GEDs as torture devices that are not allowed to used on terrorists, yet they're being used on disabled children in Massachusetts in 2021. Their Twitter:

After my father and uncle grew up to have their own children (my cousins and I) he continued this tradition with us. As we grew older, we often told him he should make it into a children's book series, but it never materialized beyond talk until COVID hit and afforded him the time. Now, at eighty-five years young, I'm so proud to say he finally did it!
