This is my entry for the quilt contest [link]

We were to create a 400x400 pixel pink piece for breast cancer awareness. Other than that, it was pretty open and I've seen a lot of wonderful and creative concepts done in other entries! Everything from remembering those lost in their brave fights, celebrating those who defeated it, to helpful tips and facts about prevention, early detection and treatment. This has turned out to be a beautiful community project.

Breast cancer is the among the most common as well as deadly cancers in women (it even affects men in some rare cases), however, if it is found early enough, it can be successfully treated, which is why it is of the utmost importance to give yourself a breast exam every month or so, and get mammograms, too. Chances are, you do or will know someone with breast cancer.

I was really conflicted with submitting this, I don't want it to attract gross people or anything. I could have just drawn a pink flower or a bow, but I don't think that would have the same effect or carry the same message, which is that as with most types of cancer, early detection is key and you need to check yourself for lumps regularly. It's embarrassing to talk about (at least for me) but when it comes down to it, it's just another medical thing people, especially women, need to make sure they do; like brushing your teeth, getting blood tests and eating right, this is one of the things that although small can actually end up saving your life.

As for why I used Chill and not some random woman, I guess it's because I felt it would have more meaning. Chill is very special to me; she's my favorite creation. I guess it just makes it more personalized.

*EDIT* If this gets added to any questionable collections I will remove it and possibly block you. I really don't appreciate it.
